Dickov slams poor defence

Oldham manager Paul Dickov was scathing in his criticism of his players after they lost 1-0 at Tranmere in League One on Saturday.

Jose Baxter scored the only goal in the 18th minute at Prenton Park, with his 20-yard drive being deflected past Latics goalkeeper Alex Cisak by team-mate Enoch Showunmi. But it was a perceived lack of quality throughout the Oldham team which had Dickov fuming. "I am really angry. Too many players did not perform," he said. "There were only four or possibly five who were really committed. It's disappointing especially after doing so well on Monday [by beating MK Dons]. You have to get the basics right and we did not do that. "We knew it was going to be a hard, tight game but we have under-performed. "Tranmere, to be fair, were excellent and you have got to give them credit but we handed the game to them."
