Dickov blasts run of bad luck

A 3-2 defeat at Rochdale coupled by Filipe Morais' involvement in a car crash has left Oldham boss Paul Dickov cursing their bad luck.

It marked a disappointing day for Dickov, who spared a thought for his player and bemoaned his luck. Oldham, who ended the game with 10 men after James Tarkowski was dismissed for a second bookable offence, kept the contest alive with a spectacular effort from Sheki Kuqi and a late Reuben Reid effort, but Michael Symes, who had failed to score in his first six appearances for Rochdale, fired a hat-trick for Dale. Dickov said: "Before the game, Filipe was severely concussed and that just seems to be the way things are going at the minute. "With the injury list we have, that just added salt to the wound, but we're hoping he is going to be OK. He went off to hospital, so we'll just have to wait and see on that." Dickov was disappointed by his side's defending on the day and called for an improvement from his backline, adding: "Our defending for the three goals was really poor. To win matches you have to give yourselves a base, and that base is a clean sheet. We gave ourselves a mountain to climb by conceding goals at the start of each half. We came back well and looked a threat, but at 3-1 down it's tough."
