Carlisle boss Greg Abbott felt mixed emotions on his return to Coventry after his side edged the Sky Blues 2-1 at the Ricoh Arena.
Coventry-born Abbott began his career with the Sky Blues where he failed to make the grade and described his winning homecoming on Saturday as one of the "proudest days" of his managerial career. Abbott's men took the lead in the League One clash after 25 minutes when Danny Cadamarteri scored from the penalty spot before David McGoldrick levelled seven minutes before half-time. Danny Livesey headed Carlisle back in front after 57 minutes and despite MCGoldrick and substitute Cody McDonald both hitting the post, the visitors held on. Abbott said: "It's a little bit sad to come home and see my club in such a sorry state. They are going through tough times. But in a bit of a selfish way it's about Carlisle for me and we are now within scratching distance of the play-offs. "These were three important points for us. It is one of the proudest days of my managerial career. But I cried when I left this club. I am embarrassed to say I lost touch with people here including my best man, who I hadn't spoken to in 20 years."
