Moore delighted with response

Ronnie Moore was a happy man after watching Tranmere bounce back from their 5-0 demolition at Swindon last time out with a 2-1 win over Crewe.

Crewe took a 12th-minute lead with their first attack of the match - Brad Inman smashing home from 12 yards after Rovers failed to deal with a high ball into the box. Adam McGurk got Tranmere level after 58 minutes, leaping highest in the six-yard box to power home a fine header past Steve Phillips from Robinson's floated cross. Liam Palmer hit a post for Rovers before they did take the lead when Max Power curled home a delightful effort from the edge of the 18-yard box into the top corner. "What we did at half-time was change it and go three up front and it worked a treat to be fair. For 20 minutes of the second half we had them on the ropes," Moore said. "Back-to-back home wins is what we want (with Scunthorpe the visitors on Saturday), but whether we'll get them or not is difficult. "I thought we were the better side and our closing down was exceptional, if you consider what happened on Friday (against Swindon). When teams come here, we need to get them on the back foot like we did for 15-20 minutes in the second half where they couldn't get out. "Once we got the first it was a matter of how many we were going to score. I've nothing but praise for them, but there's no respite for them - they'll be in on Thursday."
