Manager Steve Davis has hailed Jamie Lowry's impact on Crewe's midfield after securing his services on loan for a further month.

Lowry will remain at Gresty Road until January 29 and the 24-year-old has impressed in the Alex engine room in recent weeks, complementing the talents of Luke Murphy, Lee Bell and Ashley Westwood. "It has been good business from our point of view because we have been delighted with Jamie since he came here," Davis told Crewe's official website. "I spoke to him last week and he wanted to stay, but of course that depended on Chesterfield and we are pleased they let him stay. "I think he has improved throughout his spell here and I'm sure there is more to come. But Jamie has also pushed on the other midfielders. "Murph is starting to produce his best form now, Westy is starting to play how he played a couple of seasons ago and Belly is playing better than ever. Lowry added: "It has gone well for me here. I have settled in well and the lads and the staff at the club have made me feel very welcome. It has been a good month and I still definitely think there is more to come from me."
