Yates mulling over loan deals

Mark Yates admits the quality at his disposal at Cheltenham is making it difficult for him to decide on whether he needs extra players.

The Robins currently lie third in the table, despite losing in the league for the first time since October on Saturday, and have so far added only Jermaine McGlashan to their squad during the January transfer window. But manager Yates revealed he and his coaching staff have found it hard to identify just exactly what they need to bring in. He said: "We sit and talk as staff about what we need and it's difficult. Do you get someone to go straight into your team? Do you get someone to back your squad up? It's a real difficult one. "You hear managers in the Premier League talking about January being a really difficult period to go and get quality, especially if you're not going to pay for it. We're not going to pay for it. "It's about fitting into the group as well, we think if we get one or two that we think would be right that would be better for everybody. You're going to get niggles, the odd suspension here and there and you've got to have every eventuality covered. "I've got lists upon lists of players we've talked about, but if you asked my backroom staff who we need right now they'd say 'don't know'."
