Striker George Donnelly has made his loan move from Fleetwood to Macclesfield permanent for an undisclosed fee.

Donnelly netted his fourth goal of the season when he fired the winner for the Silkmen against Port Vale on New Year's Eve and has signed a deal that runs until June 2014. "He'll be a great asset to the club," manager Gary Simpson told Macclesfield's official website. "He's still young but has some good experience under his belt, so he's someone we are very happy to have brought to the club permanently. "The lad is enjoying his football here and hasn't had the best of times at other clubs. The fans have seen what he can do with the two goals before he had to go back to Fleetwood and, although he's had a difficult spell in front of goal since returning, no one could question his work rate and ability, so we were all delighted for him when he scored such a good goal against Port Vale. "He'd come back into the side having not played many games before joining us and that can start to hit you after a while. "But I said all along that when he got one he would be able to go on a run, so now he's back off the mark we'll see how well he develops as the season progresses."
