Paolo Di Canio hailed his team's work ethic as Swindon took a step closer to promotion with an ugly 1-0 win at home to Northampton.
Lee Holmes' wind-assisted second-half strike was enough to separate the two teams in a low-quality League Two game blighted by wet and windy conditions at the County Ground on Monday. Manager Di Canio, however, felt his team showed great resilience throughout the course of the 90 minutes to keep their 22nd clean sheet of the season. He said: "From front to back we are working well as a unit. Sure Wes (Foderingham) and the defence has played well but the midfield and front line have played their part too. "They (Northampton) had a guy today, (Adebayo) Akinfenwa, who scored 18 goals this season. Paul (Benson) and Alan (Connell) have scored half that but I am happy with this because they work hard off the ball and play for the team." The Robins' boss also lauded the performance of on-loan winger Holmes for producing a strong display on the right-hand side of midfield. "He likes to take on opponents but today he learnt that he can't always beat people one-on-one. But to deliver a ball like that for the goal was excellent. I am really happy for him," added the Italian.
