Edwards delighted at Dale deal

Rochdale have signed free agent defender Phil Edwards on a one-year contract ahead of the forthcoming campaign.

Edwards, who spent two months on loan at Spotland earlier in the year, has been on trial with Dale after being released by Stevenage at the end of last season. The 26-year-old sustained a knee injury during his loan spell at Rochdale, but has made a full recovery and is fit to start the new campaign. "I'm over the moon to finally sign," Edwards told the club's official website. "I've had to work hard to prove my fitness because obviously I got injured when I came on loan last season and that was the main concern. "But I've proved my fitness, I feel good, I'm over my injury and I'm just looking to kick on to the start of the season and put the past behind me."
