Dons whittling down shortlist

AFC Wimbledon will begin interviewing candidates for the managerial vacancy this week after Terry Brown's sacking last week.

Former Wimbledon boss Dave Bassett is helping chief executive Erik Samuelson sift through the applicants. Samuelson expects to have a three-man shortlist by the end of the week, after which a second round of interviews will take place. In the meantime, coach Simon Bassey remains in caretaker charge with former Chelsea defender David Lee assisting him. Bassey led the Dons to their first win since the opening day of the season at Wycombe on Saturday. He said: "The board have asked me to look after things until we have a new manager appointed and I am happy to sit in as caretaker manager for now."
