Joyce: Hunt is on the mend

Accrington defender Nicky Hunt is on the mend, according to club captain Luke Joyce.

Hunt required 10 minutes of treatment on the field following a clash of heads during Saturday's goalless draw with Plymouth and the former Bolton full-back spent the evening in hospital. He was released after precautionary tests were completed and Joyce called in to visit his team-mate earlier this week "I went to see him on Monday, he lives about five minutes away from where I live," he said. "I was surprised actually how well he was. He still feels a bit groggy and has a bit of soreness in his neck but he feels all right and hopefully he'll be back training in a couple of weeks." It was the second time in as many seasons that Stanley suffered such a severe on-field scare after Tom Bender, on loan from Colchester at the time, was knocked unconscious during a Johnstone's Paint Trophy tie with Tranmere which was subsequently abandoned. "It wasn't nice at all," Joyce added. "We went through it not long ago with Tom Bender in a similar kind of incident. "Nicky was knocked out, he didn't know what was going on and it's horrible to see anyone like that on a pitch during the game. "The lads did well to carry on and take something from the game because it would have been quite easy to have folded and used that as an excuse. But we didn't and we got a decent point."
