Worthington wants smiling faces

York's new boss Nigel Worthington hopes his players can "play with smiles on their faces" in his first game in charge at Wimbledon.

Former Northern Ireland manager Worthington, who led Norwich to promotion to the Premier League in 2004, was installed on Monday following the sacking of predecessor Gary Mills after Saturday's defeat to Bradford. "Gary's been and gone and that's the nature of the game unfortunately," said Worthington. "I've come in with 10 games to go and a lot of work has got to be done in that period to achieve what we want to do and that is to ensure our League Two status. "But having worked already with the players that's very possible. "We've just got to be a little bit more ruthless. I like us to play good football and if we can play the good football closer to the opposition's goals hopefully we'll win some more games. "What can I bring that Gary Mills didn't bring? That's a million-dollar question. "Gary will have given his all at the club and I'll do exactly the same. "The players were very bright in training, very energetic and there was good quality. "So we'll be going for the win at Wimbledon on Saturday. We'll be positive and play with a smile on our faces."
