Richardson happy to take points

Image: Leam Richardson: Result more important than the performance

Accrington claimed a last-gasp 1-0 win at Wycombe but boss Leam Richardson was unfazed that it came after such a scrappy game.

Lee Molyneux snatched victory for the visitors in the third minute of stoppage time to move them five points clear of the League Two relegation zone. What came before was instantly forgettable as both sides struggled to get into their stride on a bobbly pitch, but Richardson insists the result was all that mattered. "At this time of the season it's not about performances it's about results - I've said that before when we've played really well and not got what we deserved," he said. "I don't think either team played well to be honest and it was a scrappy game, the pitch dictated that, but to get the result the way we did was fantastic and I'm made up. "I've said before that we've got goals in our team but we've got to stay in the game and it's worth the hard work keeping your shape away from home. "You've got to put in that hard work and you've got to keep your shape because it pays off if you get half a chance. "We always felt that if we can stay in the game then we've got goals in us and it happens to be Lee again who has popped up to give us a massive three points."
