Brent expects Sheridan stay

Plymouth chairman James Brent expects John Sheridan to sign a new deal after Argyle secured their safety on the final day.

The former Chesterfield boss arrived at Home Park in January with the club in the relegation zone but eight wins from his 19 games at the helm was enough to keep them up. "We are keen to retain John Sheridan," Brent told BBC Radio Devon. "John has indicated that he is happy at the club and we will try and reach an agreement with him over the next few days." When asked about the future of his playing staff during the last few months Sheridan always said that contract talks would not start until the club knew which division they would be playing in next season. And Brent revealed that with League Two football secured they will now discuss which player they would like to keep hold of. "John's got a view on that and that's one of the things I'll clearly be talking to him about over the next few days," he said. "He's clearly formed a view as to how he sees the team shaping up next season in terms of both current players and prospective signings."
