Hill unhappy despite Dale win

Rochdale boss Keith Hill was disappointed with way his side left the door open for a Wycombe comeback in a 3-2 home win.

Dale were untouchable in the opening 15 minutes as they raced into a three-goal lead courtesy of Scott Hogan, Joe Bunney and Michael Rose. But Wycombe were offered hope with goals either side of the break and Hill felt his team were guilty of breathing life into the opposition. "We started superbly and momentum swung because, on a couple of occasions, our players were negligent in possession," said Hill. "Once momentum swings away from you it is very difficult to wrestle it back and that was the situation we found ourselves in having earlier been in a comfortable position, being three goals to the advantage. "Did we deserve to win? Of course we did. The scoreline could have been anything. We weren't bad defensively, we just gave the ball away in two vulnerable areas when in possession and that's what disappointed me because I trust the players not to give it away or show the opposition a lack of respect. "But we did more than enough to win the game and at times I thought we were superb." Rochdale were ahead after just five minutes when Hogan collected Rose's pass, turned and thumped a vicious drive across Matt Ingram and into the top corner of the net. The home side broke away to score a second five minutes later, Matt Done racing 60 yards before slipping a pass to Bunney who fired low to Ingram's right. And Rose scored on the quarter hour mark, collecting Ian Henderson's corner and curling a 20-yard effort wide of the hapless Ingram. Goals from Matt McClure and Jo Kuffour set up a tense finish at Spotland, though Ingram kept his side in it with fine saves to deny Done and Rose.
