Flinders thanked for fan action

A fan has thanked Scott Flinders for helping him receive treatment after suffering an epileptic fit prior to Hartlepool's clash with Wycombe.

Flinders was carrying out his usual pre-match warm-up when his attention was drawn to the incident that occured behind his goal in the Town End at Victoria Park on Saturday. "I heard a few shouts from the crowd and I turned round to see what was happening and saw that someone was on the ground having a fit," Flinders told the club's official website. "I quickly went and shouted for Buster (club physio Ian Gallagher) and the Doc (club doctor Dave Russell) to come over and tend to the lad. "They got there pretty quickly to give him some treatment and the paramedics were across with him too. "I saw him a little while after back on his feet and walking about so I was glad he recovered quickly and got the treatment he needed." Season-ticket holder Paddy Howlett visited Pools' training ground on Tuesday to thank Flinders in person for his timely intervention. "I just remember being at the ground and my mates asking me to check for the team news on my phone," said the 19-year-old. "I was on my phone doing that, but that's the last thing I remember really until I woke up in the paramedics room. "It was then that my friends told me that Scott Flinders had helped make sure I got the medical attention I needed. "I'm very grateful to Scott and it just shows that people have a heart and they look out for others, not just themselves. "If it wasn't for him and my friends I might not even be here now."
