Scunthorpe defender David Mirfin has put pen to paper on a new two-year contract with the club.

The 29-year-old centre-half was one of 13 out-of-contract players offered new deals by Iron manager Russ Wilcox at the end of the season. Mirfin is in his second spell at Glanford Park after returning on a free transfer in the summer of 2012 following an initial loan spell from previous club Watford. Sheffield-born Mirfin is a product of Huddersfield's Academy and made over 170 appearances for the West Yorkshire club before moving to Scunthorpe in August 2008 for a fee of £150,000. He was a virtual ever-present as the Iron clinched automatic promotion back to League One at the first attempt last season and has made a total of 194 appearances for the club, scoring seven goals.
