Shrewsbury have completed the signing of goalkeeper Jayson Leutwiler on a two-year deal.

The 25-year-old began his career with Swiss side Basel in his home country and has spent the last two seasons with Middlesbrough, where he made just five appearances. Leutwiler has stepped down two divisions to join the Shrews and is looking forward to competing with fellow new recruit Mark Halstead this season. "Once I'd spoke to the manager and looked around the stadium I had no hesitation making the decision and it is now a great opportunity for me to play at this club," Leutwiler told Shrewsbury's official website. "I heard that it is a completely new team and heard of the ambition and positivity around the club. There is new players, new staff and to me it seems like a great time to be joining Shrewsbury. "I'm going to train when I get back home and get ready and in shape for when the pre-season starts."
