Accrington defender Tom Aldred has signed an extension to his current contract which will keep him at the club until 2015.

The 22-year-old finished last season strongly having started each of Stanley's final 12 games, prompting the club to make him their eighth player this summer to pen a new contract. Aldred is already looking forward to a bright future at the Crown Ground and was in bullish mood regarding his side's chances next season. "If we can start this season as we finished the last then we've got every chance of being right up there," the former Watford centre-back said. "I definitely don't think this club will be in the situation it was in last year and I definitely think it's a club on the up - I'm really excited."
