Boss wants stable Chairboys

Image: Waddock: Keen to keep squad together

Wycombe manager Gary Waddock does not expect any of his other fringe players to leave Adams Park in search of first-team football.

Wanderers agreed to release winger Kevin Betsy from his contract on Tuesday after the 33-year-old grew frustrated with a lack of opportunities. Waddock has a large squad at his disposal with a number of experienced players on the outskirts of the starting XI. Former Brentford midfielder John Halls has not featured since September 24, Ben Harding since October 4 and on-loan Swindon forward Elliot Benyon has not made an appearance since October 1. Even last season's top scorer Scott Rendell, who has already been sent out on a month-long loan to Bristol Rovers, has just three minutes of League One action under his belt since mid-September. "We have assembled a squad here and we have to make sure we have a squad capable of competing at this level," Waddock told the Buckinghamshire Examiner. "Keeping players happy when they are not playing is difficult but they have an important part to play. When they get their opportunity they have to take it - whether that is in training, in a reserve game or in a first-team match."
