Pirates skipper back at helm

Bristol Rovers midfielder Matt Gill is delighted to be back playing after a frustrating fight with injury this season.

The Pirates skipper has featured 19 times this term, but back and hamstring troubles have restricted him to just a single run-out since Christmas. However, having recently regained full fitness, Gill is looking forward to making up for lost time as Rovers aim to climb the League Two table. "It's been very frustrating. I've picked up a few little niggling injuries and having not played much last season I think that might be part of the reason for it," he said. "It's been frustrating but now I'm fully fit and I'm looking forward to getting back involved. It's good to be back with the boys and hopefully we can start putting together a good run. "It is the worst possible time as a footballer, there's nothing worse than being out injured - just ask my wife. We're not great people to live with when we're out injured, but that's part and parcel of football."
