The 31-year-old American had teed off on Sunday leading by three strokes, which he extended to six courtesy of a brilliant outward half of 30.

His return journey was a more cautious 34, with a closing 64 proving too good for his nearest challenger Kevin Chappell.

It was Kisner's second straight six-under-par round, with his final 36 holes featuring just a single bogey - which arrived at 14 on Saturday.

In what was his 109th tournament start on Tour, Kisner's victory ended a sequence of four runner-up finishes - all during 2015.

This included three play-off defeats, one of which came in The Players Championship at Sawgrass in early May.

"I was just playing so well all year, I knew that one day it was going to happen where I would make all the putts on Sunday and I did it today on the front nine," said Kisner.

As for Chappell, his 67 on Sunday was enough to give him second spot on his own, ahead of third-placed Graeme McDowell.

The Northern Irishman had been chasing back-to-back successes, following his victory in Mexico just seven days ago.

The 36-year-old closed with a 67, although McDowell did not help his cause at the 16th hole where he needed two attempts to escape a greenside bunker, which led to his first bogey in 46 holes.
