Jamie Donaldson has been forced to pull out of the Abu Dhabi Championship after having an accident involving a chainsaw

Ryder Cup star Jamie Donaldson looks set to miss the next two tournaments on the European Tour after injuring his finger in an incident with a chainsaw.

The Welshman, who claimed the decisive point as Europe beat the United States in September 2014 to retain the trophy, posted a photo on Twitter of what appears to be a serious laceration to the little finger on his left hand.

"So folks in my time off decided to have a fight with a chainsaw and lost! Oops!! C u in Dubai," he tweeted.

Donaldson will miss this week's Abu Dhabi Golf Championship - which he won in 2013 - as well as the Singapore Open, which gets underway at Sentosa on January 28.

His post suggests he could return to action at the Omega Dubai Desert Classic, which starts in UAE on February 4.

Donaldson struggled for form last season as he finished in the top 10 on just four occasions on the European and PGA Tours.

He claimed his first victory in more than a year on the Asian Tour's Thailand Golf Championship just before Christmas though, defeating the likes of Ryder Cup team-mate Lee Westwood on the way.
