Ian Poulter is the latest addition to the star-studded field for next week's British Masters supported by Sky Sports.

The Ryder Cup legend will join tournament host Lee Westwood, Masters Champion Sergio Garcia and four-time Major champion Rory McIlroy in the impressive line-up for the event at Close House in Northumberland.

Poulter hosted the British Masters at Woburn in 2015 when the tournament made a hugely successful return to the European Tour schedule after a seven-year absence, although he was unable to play at The Grove last year due to injury.

But the Englishman has been climbing back up the world rankings this season, making the cut in all 10 of his appearances so far on the European Tour, and he has also enjoyed a profitable campaign on the PGA Tour after retaining his card in dramatic circumstances.

Poulter finished joint runner-up in The Players Championship in May before impressing back on British soil over the summer, following a tie for ninth in the Aberdeen Asset Management Scottish Open with an 11th-place finish in The Open at Royal Birkdale.

The 12-time European Tour winner is a three-time runner-up in the British Masters, and he is looking forward to teeing it up in a high-profile field next week.

"I enjoyed hosting the tournament a couple of years ago and Lee has done a great job this time round, with a really strong field, so it should be a great week.

"I had some good performances over the summer, including on British soil, and the game has mostly felt pretty good this year. Clearly I'd love to get a win before the season finishes and the British Masters would obviously be a special place for it to happen."

Meanwhile, Spanish veteran Miguel Angel Jimenez, Scotland's Russell Knox and Ireland's Shane Lowry have also been confirmed as part of the line-up at Close House.
