Jordan Spieth produces an embarrassing swing and miss for Team USA during Friday's fourballs at the Presidents Cup.

Jordan Spieth might be a three-time major winner but even he is open to the odd embarrassing moment on a golf course - and he proved this with a remarkable swing and miss during Friday’s fourballs at the Presidents Cup.

With his ball lying precariously on the rough above the fairway bunker, at the ninth, the 24-year-old American went for the perfect recovery shot only to execute an air shot.

The Open champion, partnered by fellow Texan Patrick Reed, were trailing the International pairing of Hideki Matsuyama and Adam Hadwin two down at the ninth and aiming to narrow the deficit before the players hit the turn at Liberty National GC.

"That's actually about as bad as I could have done," said Spieth following the mistimed iron shot.

Despite Spieth's unfortunate mishap Team USA managed to half the hole after Reed carded a birdie to match the effort from the International duo.
