Tiger Woods has confirmed he will play in next week's Honda Classic in what he hinted is a "great sign" of his fitness.
Woods is currently competing in the Genesis Open in his second full-field PGA Tour start since returning to action following spinal fusion surgery last year, and he is confident he is now in a position to play two events in a row.
The 42-year-old will return to PGA National for the first time since 2014 and, like this week, he will be teeing up in a tournament he has never managed to win.
When asked about his schedule earlier this week, Woods insisted he would enter the Honda Classic if he felt he was capable of swinging "full bore" in time for the first event of the Florida Swing.
"I think it would be a great sign if I do play. I think it would be a smart sign if I didn't play," said Woods, whose last appearance at PGA National ended in a final-round withdrawal after he suffered back spasms.
Woods' best result in the Honda Classic came six years ago, when he fired a stunning 62 on the final day but had to settle for runner-up as he finished two strokes adrift of Rory McIlroy.
The 14-time major champion has yet to confirm his intended schedule ahead of the Masters, but he is widely expected to play next month's Arnold Palmer Invitational at Bay Hill, where he is an eight-time winner.
