Paul Broadhurst produced a stunning final round at Harbor Shores to win the KitchenAid Senior PGA Championship by four strokes.
The Englishman carded eight birdies in a bogey-free round of 63 to leapfrog to the top of the leaderboard and eventually claim his second senior major title in comfortable fashion.
Sunday's round ended a week which Broadhurst initially thought would see him miss the cut, having opened the tournament on Friday with a sloppy one-over round of 72.
But he would bounce back from that opening and make a total of 26 birdies to lead the field, winning $585,000 in his fourth Champions Tour success, which was also enough to see him move to the top of the order of merit.
"It was really a special week," Broadhurst said. "It got a little bit tense out there. I knew I was playing well but I didn't seem to making any progress against Tim Petrovic. He was side-by-side on the back nine it seemed."
"I'm not blessed with a consistent swing like Bernhard Langer, but when it's on, it works," he said. "If I'm putting well, then anything can happen, really."
Petrovic closed out with a 69 to finish second, four adrift of Broadhurst's 19 under, with Jerry Kelly and Scott McCarron tied for third place on 14 under.
A strong performance from the European contingent in Michigan also saw Spain's Miguel Angel Jimenez finish fifth, while Colin Montgomerie continued his weekend progress with a second successive round of 67 to finish tied for sixth and Welshman Philip Price pick up prize money for eighth.
