Rickie Fowler came up with a hole in one of his own at the Quicken Loans National.

Rickie Fowler and Ryo Ishikawa both joined the PGA Tour's hole-in-one club with aces during the opening round of the Quicken Loans National.

Fowler finished his round in style with an ace at the 184-yard par-three ninth, firing his tee shot with a seven-iron to the front edge of the green and watching his ball gently roll in to the cup.

That hole-in-one helped the Scottish Open champion close a four-under 68 to stay within four of the early leaders at Robert Trent Jones GC, with Retief Goosen and Ryo Ishikawa setting the clubhouse a target at eight under.

Fowler told reporters he "made a great swing", and he then further increased his popularity with the press when he delivered a huge bucket full of beers in ice to the media centre with a note which read: "It's not a mortgage for a year, but enjoy a cold one on me!"

Meanwhile, Ishikawa saw a run of six consecutive birdies halted by two-putt pars at the second and third, before the 23-year-old bounced back in style at the 176-yard next.
