Brian McFadden makes a mess of a tiny tap-in at Kingsbarns, and then finds it tough to drop his ball into the hole during the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship

Brian McFadden hit the "wrong notes" during the second round of the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship as he missed a very short putt ... twice!

The former Westlife singer, who is playing the pro-am tournament with good friend Robert Rock, had a simple tap-in at Kingsbarns Golf Links midway through the round.

McFadden thought about marking his ball, but it was so close to the hole he decided to putt out only to push the effort a fraction, and he looked aghast when his ball performed a 90-degree lip-out.

The bemused Irishman decided instead to drop his ball into the cup by hand, and he looked further amazed when it hit the bottom of the hole and bounced back out!

McFadden eventually managed to get his ball to stay in the hole, but he and Rock will need to go low at St Andrews on Saturday after ending round two on five under - some nine shots adrift of the top-20 teams currently looking good to play the final day.
