Justin Rose showed off his Olympic gold medal at The Barclays by putting it on whilst playing!

Justin Rose earned the admiration of Phil Mickelson and the New York fans when he played his final shot of The Barclays while proudly wearing his Olympic gold medal around his neck.

In his first appearance since becoming golf's first Olympic champion for 112 years in Rio, Rose narrowly missed out on a fourth birdie in six holes as his 20 foot putt shaved the edge of the cup on the 72nd green.

But before tapping in, Rose's caddie Mark Fulcher pulled his medal out of his bag and placed it over the head of the Englishman, prompting a delightful reaction from playing-partner Mickelson and the vast galleries in the grandstands.

Rose's par completed a 71 which left him at level par for the tournament at Bethpage, and he then kept the medal around his neck while paying a visit to Sarah Stirk at the Sky Cart.
