Mackenzie Hughes remains atop the leaderboard at the RSM Classic in Georgia where the 26-year-old carded a third-round 68 over the Seaside Course at Sea Island.
Hughes did not have the greatest day from tee-to-green, but he held his game together superbly to take a one-stroke lead into the final round of the PGA Tour tournament.
Arriving at the 11th tee on Saturday, he had not dropped a single shot during his opening 46 holes but when it finally happened, it came courtesy of a terrible triple-bogey seven.
The Canadian rookie visited a brace of fairway bunkers and needed five strokes to reach the putting surface.
But he responded brilliantly by making three birdies in four holes from the 13th to reclaim top spot.
And if he is to hold on for a well-earned win on Sunday, it would give him a two-year exemption on the PGA Tour.
Just one shot behind, and tied for second, are Camilo Villegas, Billy Horschel and Cheng Tsung Pan.
Villegas came home in just 30 shots for a 64, as he raced up the leaderboard on day three. The experienced Colombian teed off in a tie-for-17th and is well-placed to claim a fifth career victory in the States.
American Horschel posted a bogey-free 65, while Pan had a 67. The 25-year-old from Chinese Taipei momentarily took the lead before suffering a bogey on 13.
However, it was a disappointing day for Ian Poulter who could only locate nine greens in regulation during a one-over-par 71.
The Englishman is nine strokes off the pace and one ahead of his compatriot Luke Donald, who carded a level-par 70.
