Justin Rose piled the pressure on leader Marc Leishman with a superb final-round charge at the BMW Championship.

Justin Rose believes he is still in with a chance of FedExCup victory after another impressive finish at the BMW Championship.

The Englishman started the season-ending play-offs 32nd in the standings but followed back-to-back top-10s in the first two events with a runner-up finish at Conway Farms.

Rose carded a final-round 65 to share second with Rickie Fowler, five strokes behind winner Marc Leishman, lifting him to eighth in the standings ahead of this week's Tour Championship.

The Masters runner-up can still win the FedExCup and $10million jackpot with victory at East Lake, depending on other performances, with Rose pleased to be in with a shout.

"I feel good about eighth," Rose said. "It gives myself a realistic chance - you can win from eighth. The guys in the top-five still have to have a really good week to beat you.

"It's a lot better than it was three weeks ago. I think it's been a nice play-off run. If I can keep trending the way I have, I have a chance."

Beginning the final round seven strokes behind Leishman, Rose holed a 25-footer at the first and added gains at the third and eighth to reach the turn in 33.

Rose continued to move up the leaderboard with three birdies in a four-hole stretch from the 10th and picked up another at the 16th, with his only blemish coming when he missed from six feet at the 17th.

"I didn't pay too much attention to leaderboards out there," Rose added. "I said I was five down teeing off the 10th tee and wanted to try to get to the last hole all-square.

"I knew I was going to have a play a special back-nine. That was my game within a game I was trying to play. Unfortunately, I hit a couple of the wrong shots at the wrong time.

"I worked pretty hard to get myself into it (contention). I sensed from the crowd a little bit with a few holes to go I was getting close. Leish put in it gear there. It was exciting to get in the hunt."
