Nesta Carter has appealed against the ruling which saw Jamaica's 4 x 100m relay team - including Usain Bolt - stripped of their Beijing 2008 Olympic gold medal.

His lawyer Stuart Stimpson has confirmed to Sky Sports News HQ that the appeal was filed on Thursday.

It was sent to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) electronically and hard copies will get there on Friday.

Carter was disqualified last month after the reanalysis of his frozen 2008 samples tested positive for methylhexaneamine.
