Former British javelin champion Joanna Blair banned over anti-doping violation

British javelin thrower Joanna Blair has been provisionally suspended after committing an anti-doping rule violation.
Blair, 31, was British champion in 2016 and competed for Great Britain in the European Team Championships earlier this year.
The Luton thrower ranks seventh on the all-time UK javelin list with a personal best of 57.44m set in winning the British title, where she beat 2008 Olympic Games bronze medalist Goldie Sayers.
Blair failed to make Great Britain's team for the World Championships in London earlier this summer.
A UK Athletics statement said she had been "charged with having committed an anti-doping rule violation contrary to IAAF Anti-Doping Rule Article 2.1 (presence of a prohibited substance or its metabolites or markers in an athlete's sample).
"The provisional suspension was issued by UK Anti-Doping and is in accordance with IAAF Anti-Doping Rules."
