Charlie Maddock stunned reigning Olympic taekwondo champion Sohui Kim of Korea to win the -49kg title at the World Grand Prix finals in Baku.
The 21-year-old scored a spinning head-kick to wrap up a 4-0 win over her opponent and win the biggest title of her career to date.
Maddock had made her breakthrough in the same city in 2015 when she won gold at the inaugural European Games.
Both OIympic champion Jade Jones and Mahama Cho, who agonisingly missed out on a medal, were due in action on Saturday.
