The second season of the eSports Championship Series - better known as ECS - has already begun, with many CS:GO teams having played their first matches of the competition.

You can catch the second week of the ECS over on Ginx eSports TV on Sky Channel 470, starting from tonight at 9pm and every night through to 16 October.

And if this week's play is anything like last week's, you will definitely want to tune in.

North America featured a large number of teams, and already popular favourites SK Gaming, OpTic Gaming and Cloud9 have already started strongly.

SK Gaming, in particular, has won five of their initial six matches, giving the ex-Luminosity squad a considerable lead over their opponents.

Conversely, the new Luminosity squad could not score a single win and so - alongside NRG eSports - is currently sat at the bottom of the North American league.

Europe's opening games weren't quite as numerous, with only Fnatic, Mousesports and Ninjas In Pyjamas (NIP) playing so far.

Fnatic was the only team to play four matches, winning two games against NInjas In Pyjamas but losing both matches against Mousesports.

NiP continued their inconsistent form, and - despite recently winning StarSeries Season 2 - struggled to make much of an impact against Fnatic, losing their two games 16-7 and then 16-11. This puts Mouseports at the top of the league due to their success on the only two matches they have played.

This week will see the likes of Team SoloMid and Complexity looking to make an impression on the league table.

The ECS league phase will continue until the middle of November, at which point the top qualifying teams of both the NA and EU leagues will face off in the knockout rounds.

The finals of the eSports Championship Series will take place on the 7 December 2016.
