Brock Lesnar has been notified of a potential doping violation concerning a drugs test carried out prior to his victorious UFC return.

The former UFC heavyweight champion and WWE star defeated Mark Hunt at last weekend's UFC 200 in Las Vegas on his return to the Octagon after an absence of almost five years.

Lesnar, who earned a record $2.5m purse for the points win, has since been informed by the US Anti-Doping Agency that he failed an out-of-competition drug test administered on June 28 and has protested his innocence.

"We'll get to the bottom of this," Lesnar said in a statement to the Associated Press.

Samoan Hunt, however, has furiously hit out and demanded action as Lesnar is now the third UFC opponent he has faced that has been flagged for a doping violation.

Hunt told MMA Fighting: "The cheaters get a slap on the wrist and walk off. What penalty or deterrent is there to make them think twice? Nothing.

"And the [Nevada Athletic Commission], why should these [expletive] get anything? They are not the ones who had to fight with Lesnar or lose [to him]. I lost."

Lesnar, who along with the USADA and the UFC have declined to specify the substance of the doping violation, was given permission by the WWE to return to the UFC for one fight and is scheduled to return on SummerSlam against Randy Orton on August 21.
