Darren Till's UFC welterweight fight against American Stephen Thompson on Saturday is in doubt after the Liverpudlian failed to make weight.

Till, 25, unbeaten in 17 MMA contests including five in the UFC, was given an additional hour to hit the target "due to a family emergency" but came in at 174.5lbs.

He had already failed to arrive within the two-hour and it remains unclear if the fight will go ahead.

Thompson - whose own 17-fight record, featuring 12 UFC bouts, shows two losses both on points - came in at the 171lb limit for the fight at Liverpool's Echo Arena.

As well as being a first for his home city, Sunday's event will be the first in the UK Till has fought at in his professional career.
