Pro Bowl guard Trai Turner has agreed to a four-year contract extension with the Carolina Panthers.

The deal is reportedly worth $45m with $20.5m guaranteed.

Turner's average salary of $11.25m per season puts him third in the NFL at the position, behind Kevin Zeitler of the Cleveland Browns ($12m) and Kelechi Osemele of the Oakland Raiders ($11.7m).

Turner, who was the 92nd pick in the 2014 draft, had one season remaining on his rookie contract.

The 24-year-old has been named to the Pro Bowl in each of the past two seasons.

The deal was the first move made by interim general manager Marty Hurney, who was hired on Wednesday after Dave Gettleman was fired by the team on Monday.
