The Baltimore Ravens have lost quarterback Joe Flacco for the rest of the season with knee ligament damage suffered against the St Louis Rams.
Flacco went down with a torn ACL, and possibly a torn MCL as well, late in the game the Ravens won 16-13 on a Justin Tucker field goal.
Coach John Harbaugh said Flacco suffered the injury on their last offensive series, which he still finished to set up Tucker's winning 47-yard kick.
"It's just the nature of the game, man," said Flacco, who was Super Bowl MVP for the champion Ravens three seasons ago.
"Stuff like this happens. So you've just got to stand tall and get through it."
Flacco had started the last 122 regular season games for the Ravens, who are now expected to turn to back-up Matt Schaub for the remainder of the year.
The Ravens also lost starting running-back Justin Forsett early in the game with a broken right arm that will end his season.
Javorius Allen stepped in for Forsett and rushed for 67 yards on 22 carries, also catching five passes for a further 48 yards.
