Denver Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning is at the centre of an NFL investigation regarding alleged use of human growth hormone.
Ahead of his fourth Super Bowl appearance, Manning's name appeared in a report which claimed he had sent the banned substance to his wife for his own use.
This is alleged to have taken place during Manning's recovery from neck surgery back in 2011, but the 39-year-old denies it happened.
The NFL do not expect the review to conclude before this season's deciding game between Denver and the Carolina Panthers on February 7 in Santa Clara.
Manning won the Super Bowl with the Indianapolis Colts when they beat the Chicago Bears 29-17 in Miami in 2007.
He holds the records for the most passing yards and touchdown passes and has been voted the NFL's most valuable player on a record five occasions.
