Former London Warriors defensive end Efe Obada has signed for the Atlanta Falcons.

The 24-year-old, who was born in Nigeria but arrived in London at the age of 10, only took up the game in 2014 and after only five appearances for the Warriors in the British league, he was signed by the Dallas Cowboys, who had taken Warriors defensive co-ordinator Aden Durde on a coaching internship.

After two stints on the Cowboys' practice squad, he spent a brief spell with the Kansas City Chiefs earlier this year.

A statement on the Falcons' website on Thursday evening read: "The Atlanta Falcons have signed defensive end Efe Obada and have waived wide receiver Daje Johnson."

Johnson was signed as an undrafted free agent following this year's draft.

Obada is one of several British players trying to establish themselves in the NFL. Defensive end Jack Crawford has seen regular action with the Cowboys, who also have former Olympian Lawrence Okoye on their books, while Manchester-born offensive lineman Menelik Watson is working his way back from injury with the Oakland Raiders.
