Arizona Cardinals quarterback Carson Palmer will not be fit to face the San Francisco 49ers, live on Sky Sports 1.
Coach Bruce Arians said on Wednesday Palmer remains in the concussion protocol and confirmed the 36-year-old would not make the trip as a result.
Back-up Drew Stanton will make the 13th career start of his 10-year NFL career in place of Palmer. The 32-year-old went 5-3 as a starter when Palmer went down with a season-ending knee injury in 2014.
Arians said he is "very optimistic" Palmer will be back for the Cardinals' next game, a Monday night contest against the New York Jets on October 17.
The Cardinals have won just one of their four games so far this season, a 40-7 victory over Tampa Bay last month.
