Plans for a London-based NFL franchise are right on track, the league's executive vice president of international, Mark Waller, has told Sky Sports News HQ.
The 10th year of the NFL international series will conclude at Wembley on Sunday as the Washington Redskins take on the Cincinnati Bengals live on Sky Sports.
This year also saw the first game held at Twickenham as the New York Giants edged out the Los Angeles Rams, and Waller is keen to extend the NFL's annual UK 'outreach' programme to four games, as well as establish a permanent franchise in London by 2022.
He told Sky Sports News HQ: "We are actually having a lot of conversations with the mayor's office about playing four games in London in the coming years, how we can make sure that happens with the correct infrastructure."
When asked whether a London-based franchise would be in place in six years time he replied: "Absolutely.
"The fan response has been extraordinary. The political response, the desire from the government, the mayor's office...it's a lot of good progress.
"Ultimately that will be a decision for our owners. I always compare it to the Los Angeles experience. We were out of LA for 20 years.
"It didn't seem like any progress was being made and then two or three owners decided that they wanted to move and it all happened very quickly after that."
