Buffalo Bills hold a recent record that is as cold as the city in which they reside.

Buffalo Bills

  • Established: 1960
  • Stadium: New Era Field, Orchard Park, New York
  • Team colours: Royal blue, red, white and navy blue
  • Head coach: Sean McDermott
  • Super Bowl Championships: 2 (2 pre-merger)
  • Conference Championships: 4
  • Division Championship: 10 (3 pre-merger)
  • Play-offs appearances: 17 (4 pre-merger)

They are the only team in the NFL that has not reached the playoffs in the 21st century. Despite their new-age struggles, they do hold one of the most impressive records in the NFL, having achieved four consecutive appearances in the Super Bowl between 1991 and 1994.

The downside to that period, however, is that this record is overshadowed by four consecutive losses in the Super Bowl, which means they have not won a championship in the modern NFL era. Their last triumph came in 1965 before the merging of the AFL and NFL in 1970.

The Bills remarkably reached the playoffs eight times in the 1990s, which showed promise of ushering in a new era of success, but it was to be stopped in its tracks before the world was ushering in a new millennium.

Divisional rivals, New England Patriots, have made it difficult for the Bills to rebuild in the 21st century, with the quarterback-coach pairing of Tom Brady and Bill Belichick dominating proceedings in the AFC East since 2000.

Hall-of- Famer head coach, Marv Levy, who was at the helm for the Super-Bowl- mainstay-period of the early 1990s, oversaw the most games (both regular- and post-season) of any coach in Bills history and is second only to Lou Saban in terms of winning percentage with .615 over 182 games.

Saban, the coach responsible for the franchise's championship successes in 1964 and 1965, took charge of 117 games over two tenures for a .679 winning percentage.
