Seattle Seahawks look to have ended their interest in Colin Kaepernick after signing quarterback Austin Davis.

Head coach Pete Carroll and general manager John Scheider have been seeking experienced back-up to first choice Russell Wilson and had held talks with Kaepernick.

The former 49ers QB is arguably the best available signal-caller but could well have priced himself out of a move after opting out of the final year of his contract with the 49ers in March and has been awaiting interest as he looks to kickstart his career.

But it will not be in the Pacific North West after the Seahawks confirmed a deal for Davis, with Jake Heaps released to make way for the 28-year-old.

Davis has just 10 starts across six seasons under his belt with the Rams and Browns and has also spent time with Denver having signed a one-year deal with the Broncos last September.

With Wilson firmly established at the no 1 under centre Davis will battle it out with last year's back-up Trevone Boykin for a spot on the depth chart.
