The Dallas Cowboys cruised to a comfortable 19-3 win over NFC East divisional rivals New York Giants in the first Sunday Night football of the 2017 season.

New York inflicted two of Dallas' three regular season defeats last year, but failed to show up for their season opener, scoring just a solitary Aldrick Rosas field goal in the third quarter.

By contrast, The Cowboys were very impressive, with their two star rookies from last season showing no early signs of suffering a sophomore slump - Ezekiel Elliott ran for 104 yards and Dak Prescott threw for 268, which included the only touchdown of the game.

That TD was a second-quarter 12-yard pass to tight end Jason Witten, whose 59 yards on the night saw him become the Cowboys' all-time leader in receiving yards, surpassing Michael Irvin's 11,904.

The Giants badly missed star wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr, who was ruled out of the game due to an ankle injury sustained during preseason. Without his No 1 target on the field, Eli Manning threw for 210 yards and an interception.
