Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger insists he is considering his future "one year at a time".

Reports in Pittsburgh have suggested the 35-year-old, whose contract runs until the end of the 2019 season, had informed teammates he was wanting to continue for a minimum of three years, but the quarterback was quick to quash those rumours.

"I'm not going to look past one year. I'm going to look forward to next year and give it everything I have. I'm just playing it one year at a time. I'm excited to come back next year," he said.

The Steelers were defeated in the AFC Divisional playoffs to Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday, with Roethlisberger citing the return of his entire starting offensive line as a reason he'll be back for 2018.

However, the future of offensive coordinator Todd Haley is uncertain as his contract is up. Despite reports of a rift between the pair, Roethlisberger played down talk of a row.

"You might butt heads at times, it doesn't mean that you have any personal problems," he said.

Head coach Mike Tomlin refused to discuss the future of the offensive coordinator, who has been with the Steelers offensive line since 2012.

"Some conversations need to be had. Some contracts are up, some aren't. You'll hear about it as they unfold, I'm sure, if there's anything to be heard. But I'm not there yet," Tomlin said.

Roethlisberger has won two Super Bowl titles during his 14-year career with the Steelers, with his last success coming in 2009.
