New England Patriots' Tom Brady says Super Bowl 'what dreams are made of'

New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady won the NFL's Most Valuable Player award on the eve of his eighth Super Bowl appearance.

The 40-year-old superstar, who will on Sunday attempt to win his sixth Lombardi Trophy against the Philadelphia Eagles, enjoyed another dazzling season as the Patriots talisman.

Brady, who threw 4,577 yards this season for 32 touchdowns and only eight interceptions, became the oldest winner of the MVP award and was the third time to get the honour.

In a video posted on the Patriots' Twitter account, Brady said: "I'm very humbled and honored to accept this award.

"In a team sport like football, you certainly can't achieve anything as an individual without incredible team-mates and incredible coaches who have really committed so much to our team this year."

It was the 10th time in the past 11 seasons that a quarterback won the award, a streak broken only by Adrian Peterson in 2012. A different QB has won it in each of the past five seasons.

Brady previously won it in 2007 and 2010 and he will become the oldest quarterback in history to win the Super Bowl if his team overcome the Eagles at US Bank Stadium.

A look at how the New England Patriots made it to Super Bowl LII.

Rams head coach Sean McVay - the youngest head coach in NFL history at 31 - was named coach of the year for transforming the California outfit into the league's most potent offense after a 4-12 season in 2016.

The Rams won the NFC West championship for the first time since 2003 before being eliminated in the playoffs.

Rams running back Todd Gurley picked up the offensive player of the year award (2,093 running and receiving yards with 19 total touchdowns), while team-mate Aaron Donald was named defensive player of the year.

New Orleans Saints running back Alvin Kamara was named rookie of the year (14 touchdowns and 1,554 yards from scrimmage).

Saturday also marked the selection of the Hall of Fame's latest inductees, with former Baltimore Ravens linebacker Ray Lewis and wide receivers Terrell Owens and Randy Moss among the newest entrants.
