The Kansas City Chiefs have signed free agent cornerback David Amerson on a one-year $2.25m contract.

Amerson had spent last season with the Oakland Raiders, but managed only six games before ending up on injured reserve with a foot injury.

The Raiders released Amerson earlier this month after three years with the franchise.

His deal with the Chiefs could reach as much as $6m depending on roster and performance bonuses.

Amerson was a second-round draft pick of the Washington Redskins in 2013 and spent his first two years with the team before being claimed off waivers by Oakland.
